Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our CNC machining services, capabilities, and processes.

What tolerances can you achieve with CNC machining?

Our CNC machining capabilities can achieve tolerances as tight as ±0.0005″ (±0.0127mm)
depending on the material, geometry, and specific requirements. For most applications,
we routinely hold tolerances of ±0.001″ to ±0.003″. We use advanced metrology equipment
including CMM machines to verify all critical dimensions.

What materials can you machine?

We machine a wide range of metals including aluminum alloys (6061, 7075, 2024),
stainless steels (304, 316, 17-4 PH), carbon steels, alloy steels, titanium alloys
(Grade 2, Ti-6Al-4V), brass, copper, and specialty alloys. We also work with exotic
materials like Inconel, Hastelloy, and other superalloys for demanding applications.

What is your typical lead time for CNC machined parts?

Lead times vary based on complexity, quantity, and material availability. For prototypes
and simple parts, we can often deliver in 24-48 hours. Standard production parts typically
require 5-10 business days. Complex parts or large quantities may require 2-3 weeks.
We also offer expedited services for urgent projects.

Do you provide surface finishing services?

Yes, we offer comprehensive surface finishing services including anodizing (Type II and Type III),
various plating options (nickel, chrome, zinc), powder coating, bead blasting, polishing,
and deburring. We can also coordinate specialized finishes like Teflon coating or
passivation for stainless steel parts.

What file formats do you accept for quotes?

We accept all major CAD file formats including STEP, IGES, SolidWorks (.sldprt),
AutoCAD (.dwg), Inventor (.ipt), Fusion 360, and PDF technical drawings.
STEP files are preferred for the most accurate quotes. Our team can also work
from 2D drawings if 3D models are not available.

Do you offer design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback?

Absolutely! Our experienced engineers provide comprehensive DFM analysis to optimize
your designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality. We review factors
like tool accessibility, material selection, tolerance requirements, and suggest
modifications that can reduce costs and improve production efficiency.

What quality certifications do you maintain?

We maintain ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification and AS9100D for aerospace
applications. We are also ITAR registered for defense-related projects and maintain
FDA-compliant processes for medical device manufacturing. All our quality systems
are regularly audited and updated to maintain compliance.

Can you handle both prototype and production quantities?

Yes, we specialize in both rapid prototyping and production manufacturing.
We can produce single prototype parts for design validation and scale up to
high-volume production runs of thousands of parts. Our flexible capacity
allows us to accommodate projects of any size efficiently.
